Abstract

ABSTRACT

Kayu bulan (Pisonia alba Span.) is a plant native to Indonesian, generally this plant is only used as an ornamental plant are unwittingly have a high enough potential in curing various diseases. The potential can be partially attributed to the antioxidant activity of existing plants. The purpose of this study was to test the antioxidant activity of the leaf extract of kayu bulan (Pisonia alba Span.). The method of extraction in this study using maceration with ethanol 40, 60 and 80%. The extract obtained is determined phenolic content and antioxidant activity assay with DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl). Based on the results obtained in leaf of kayu bulan has a total phenolic content of 12.45, 16.22, 28.67 (mg / kg) to extract 40, 60 and 80 %, respectively. Based on the results of the calculation of IC50 showed that extract had IC 50 values ​​ are 544.44, 478.12 and 236.50 ppm for 40, 60 and 80 %, respectively

ABSTRAK

Kayu bulan (Pisonia alba Span.) merupakan tanaman asli Indonesia. Umumnya tanaman ini hanya digunakan sebagai tanaman hias saja yang tanpa disadari memiliki potensi yang cukup tinggi dalam menyembuhkan berbagai macam penyakit. Potensi tersebut diduga karena aktivitas antioksidan yang ada pada tumbuhan tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak daun kayu bulan (Pisonia alba Span.). Metode ekstraksi dalam penelitian ini menggunakan maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 40, 60 dan 80 %. Ekstrak yang diperoleh ditentukan kandungan fenolik dan diuji aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil). Berdasarkan hasil yang didapat daun kayu bulan memiliki kandungan total fenolik 12.45, 16.22, 28.67 (mg/kg)  untuk ekstrak 40, 60 dan 80 %. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan IC50 menunjukan bahwa ekstrak memiliki nilai IC50 berturut-turut yaitu 544.44, 478.12, dan 236.50 ppm.
