Pemerolehan Bunyi Bahasa Anak Usia 4 Tahun

Abstract


A child’s first language acquisition is one of the interesting phenomena that is still questioned until now by linguists. Children acquire languages in stages; from sound (phoneme), then continued with words, and then finally they can make their own sentences. This research is aimed to see how a four year old child acquire language sounds. Age four is the optimal age where children could organize simple words then combine them to make simple sentences. This is a descriptive qualitative research with words pronunciation of Kairos Korompis (age 4) as the object of study. The data was gathered by teknik simak, libat cakap, and was analyzed with padan method. The results of this study explain that the child already has the ability to pronounce vocal sounds and some consonant sounds correctly and was able to communicate his thoughts. However, there are several mistakes in pronouncing some consonant sounds such as s, r, l, h, t, and ng. It is because a child articulatory system has not developed completely yet. As an alternative, the child either erased the difficult phoneme or change them into an easier sound to pronounce.
