Abstract

ABSTRACT

The installation of wastewater treatment systems for healthcare facilities is a water system that functions to sustain wastewater comes from activities of healthcare facilities. Hospital wastewater negatively affects both the environment and people’s health. Therefore, in the Decree of the Ministry of Health about the Terms and Conditions of Hospital’s Healthy Environment, it is addressed that each healthcare facility which produces hospital wastewater is expected to manage and required to have the installation of wastewater treatment systems. This study aims to discover the quality of wastewater at Bhayangkara Tk III Hospital in Manado. Research method, this study was a laboratory-based descriptive survey research. It was carried out from February to March 2019 with 12 total samples. Data collection is obtained through gathering samples only from an inlet reservoir of the installation of wastewater treatment systems at Bhayangkara Tk III Hospital in Manado. Study findings about hospital wastewater quality indicate that the measurement of parameter BOD, COD, DO, pH based on the laboratory test results are parameter BOD (123 mg/liter), COD (221 mg/liter), DO (1,74 mg/liter) does not meet the wastewater quality standard requirement of the Regulation of the Ministry of Environment Republic of Indonesia Number 5 Year 2014, however, the parameter pH with value average 7.08 meets the wastewater quality standard requirement of the Regulation of the Ministry of Environment Republic of Indonesia Number 5 Year 2014. The value of wastewater quality is parameter BOD (50mg/liter), COD (80 mg/liter), DO (0.2 mg/liter) and pH (6.0 – 9.0). These findings are based on laboratory test at BTKL-P Level 1 in Manado. The results conclude that there are still wastewater parameters which are still insufficient for wastewater standard requirements based on the Regulation of the Ministry of Environment Republic of Indonesia Number 5 Year 2014.
