Abstract

One of the centers of ornamental plants in North Sulawesi, namely Tomohon Constraints faced by farmers in this area include pests and plant diseases. Farmers' problems with pest attacks cause the quality and quantity of interest produced to decrease. To overcome the problem of pests and diseases, pesticide is a method applied by farmers. However, excessive use causing pest resistance, the emergence of new pests and environmental pollution. Preventive and controlling science and technology efforts are distributed to partner farmers in determining strategies for pest control in the field. The manufacture of pesticides originating from the beetroot (Baringtonia sp). be a solution. Farmers finally have skills in the practice of making plant-based pesticides and are able to apply environmentally friendly cultivation techniques.
