Abstract


ABSTRACT

This research entitled “Two-Word Verbs in the film Mockingjay part I and II by Francis Lawrence. This research focuse on types and meaning of  Two-word verbs by the utterance of the characters in the film mockingjay part I and II by Francis Lawrence. Two-word verbs is a verb that made up of main verb together with on verb or preposition or both. The research questions should be answered are what types of two-word verbs found in this film and what are the meaning of two-word verbs. The objective of the research  are to identify and classify the types of two-word verbs and analyze the meaning of two-word verbs in the film. This research used Coghiil (2003) and Walker (1989) theory and in collection data the writer paid attention to the utterance of the characters. The data analyzed descriptively result showed that the forms of two-word verbs found in the Hunger Games Mockingjay films part I and II by Francis Lawrence are categorized into three forms, namely transitive separable, transitive inseparable, and intransitive. The meaning of the two word verbs contained in the data the meanings of two words that are the same as the original meaning also has a meaning that is far different from the original meaning.
