ABSTRACT
This research is entitled “The Portrayal of The Post-traumatic Stress Disorder as Seen in The Film X-Men Dark Phoenix (2019)”. This research is written to fulfill the requirement of accomplishing a bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Humanities Sam Ratulangi University. The focus of this study is to analyze posttraumatic stress disorder in the X-Men Dark Phoenix film. The purpose of this study is to identify, classify, and analyze post-traumatic stress disorder in Jean Grey's character. The writer uses the theory of Burroway (2000) to explain every character's attitude, words, and thoughts, the theory of Gioia and X.J Kennedy (1995) to distinguish the main character types, and the theory of Berger (2015) to describe the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder. The writer also uses the theory of Klarer (1998) to analyze this film. The results of this study can be concluded that the main character named Jean Gray in the film X-Men Dark Phoenix (2019) experiences post-traumatic stress disorder. This is evidenced by pictures and dialogues that show some of the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Jean's disorders include: avoiding conversations about trauma, re-experiencing bad events, aggressive behavior and mood swings. Through the effects of PTSD, there are also impacts, such as the fall of victims, the breakdown of friendly relations, loss of identity, revenge, and becoming an enemy of the state.
