ABSTRACT
This research entitled “Halusinasi dalam Cerita Pendek Emergency Karya Denis Johnson dan Hallucination Karya Isaac Asimov: Analisis Perbandingan Sastra”. Thisresearch focuses on comparative literary analysis to identify, analyze and describe the kinds of hallucination and the comparison of hallucination reflected in the short stories “Emergency” by Denis Johnson and “Hallucination” by Isaac Asimov and to identify, analyze and describe the factors of hallucination that affect the character in the short stories “Emergency” by Denis Johnson and “Hallucination” by Isaac Asimov. The writer used the theory from Welleck and Warren (1949;75) to analyze the data of literature, theory from Cohen (1971) about the relationship between literature and psychology, theory from Stuart and Laraia (in Murith, 2015) to analyze the hallucination, the kinds of hallucination and the factors that cause hallucination. There are two kinds of hallucination reflected in the short story “Emergency” by Denis Johnson that is visual hallucination and there are also two hallucination reflected in the short story “Hallucination” by Isaac Asimov that are auditory hallucination and visual hallucination. The similarities between the two short stories are that they both show the character experienced visual hallucination.
