                                                  ABSTRACT

     This research is entitled “Parenting Style as Seen in the Film Gifted (2017)”. This research is the requirement for the Sarjana Sastra degree in the Faculty of Humanities Sam Ratulangi University. It is a research which focuses on parenting styles in the film using the theory of parenting styles by Baumrind and theory of character and characterization by Myers-Shaffer (2000). The objectives of this research are to identify and classify the types of parenting styles, and analyze the parenting styles as seen in the film Gifted (2017). This research uses a qualitative method in analyzing the data. The goal of this research is to improve readers' knowledge and understanding of the importance of parenting styles toward children due to the increasing parent-child interaction time as a result of the pandemic situation which encourages people to minimize activities outside the home.
