RASISME TERHADAP ORANG KULIT HITAM SEPERTI YANG TERGAMBAR                                         DALAM FILM “HIDDEN FIGURES”

                                                  ABSTRACT

     This research design is entitled “Racism toward Black People as Portrayed in “Hidden Figures Film” which focusing on analyzing racism based on the theory of Giddens, A.(2006) as portrayed in the film. The writer use intrinsic and extrinsic approach in order to finish this research design. Intrinsic approach is to analyze the plot of the film in order to identify the extrinsic element which is racism toward black people. The scope of the racism in the research design will be focusing on Segregation, Institutional racism, and Prejudice researcher analyze the film by it’s plot using the plot teory by Mays, K.J. (2017). This research used qualitative method in analyzing the data after identify and classify them and using intrinsic and extrinsic approach. By identifying racism through the plot the researcher found the results there are 3 types of racism in the film. The results showed that in each section of the plot there are several forms of racism which are showed in the exposition section, there are 2 forms of racism, segregation and prejudice. the second part of the rising action there are 3 forms of racism institutional racism, prejudice and segregation. in the climax section, there are 2 forms of racism, prejudice and segregation, in the descending action section, there is institutional racism and the last is the conclusion that there is no evidence of racism because the conflict has begun.
