ABSTRACT
FSW or commonly known as female sex workers are those who sell their bodies for money and other people's enjoyment. By expecting a reward or reward. FSW and their clients are among the high risk groups for the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STI). The purpose of this study was to determine the behavior of FSW related to STI prevention in the Port of Manado City with this type of qualitative research which refers to the theory of the Health Belief Model (HBM). Data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and observations with phenomenological studies selected through snowball sampling of 6 informants consisting of 3 female FSW, 2 ABK and 1 Mucikari. The results showed that FSW and ABK were high risk groups. Their knowledge about STIs is still in the know stage. All FSW and ABK feel vulnerable to contracting STIs. Illness, embarrassment, job loss, and death as the worst effects are perceptions of their seriousness. Their perception is that they are always healthy, not easily infected with STIs and not easily pregnant. Mass media and health education are their means of finding STI information. Intense peer-education (education of fellow FSW and clients) is needed so that knowledge about the risks, dangers and prevention of STIs can be understood equally.
