Abstract

Basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum) contain various active compositions such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins and essential oils that interact with mosquitoes. Basil essential oil has a distinctive aroma so that it can be used as an anti-mosquito. This community service is for the PKK group, the Dasawisma group and the community. The method used consists of two stage, first to discuss diseases transmitted by mosquitoes, about basil plants and second, training to make ointments from basil oil. The results of making basil ointment using hydrocarbon ointment can make the anti-mosquito effect of basil last a long time. This is because the base used helps the aroma of basil to adhere securely to the surface of the skin, thus preventing mosquitoes from approaching. The conclusion included increasing the Partner Group's knowledge of mosquito-borne diseases and completing what was given, seen from the enthusiasm of questions and answers and active discussion from the participants, as well as the enthusiasm of participants to take part in the demonstration of the basil ointment looking for documentation.
