Abstract

Background: Earthquakes and tsunamis are natural disasters that occur with high frequency and can lead to significant loss of life. The inability to accurately predict the timing and location of these disasters underscores the importance of enhancing individual preparedness to effectively respond to potential earthquakes and tsunamis.
Aim: To evaluate the level of preparedness among students at A School, Manado in relation to earthquake and tsunami disasters.
Methods: This research employs a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A proportionate stratified random sampling technique was utilized, and data were collected using a preparedness questionnaire specifically designed for students.
Results: The preparedness index of SMA A is 74.51, with a knowledge index of 79.55, an emergency response plan index of 55.59, a disaster warning system index of 57.95, and a resource mobilisation index of 43.65.
Conclusion: The A School Manado is at a ready preparedness level, with a ready knowledge parameter, nearly ready emergency response planning and disaster warning system, but less ready resource mobilisation parameter.
