Abstract
The purpose of this research which entitled, “The Characteristics of Fishery Industry Workforce in PT. Deho Canning Company of Bitung†is to recognize the general situation and also to describe and analyze the characteristics of the fishing industry workforces in the company. This research is a case study and the sample is taken by simple random sampling from some workforce in their each field and analyzed it in descriptive method. PT. Deho Canning Company is an independent company showed by the character of the workforce in specification from the number of the employee, recruitment system, age and work experiences, wage, place of residence, and also the productivity of the employees. The workforces that have become the object of this research are the employees in tuna and skip-jack canning production.

Abstrak
Tujuan penelitian dengan judul Karakteristik Tenaga Kerja Industri Perikanan di PT. Deho Canning Company Kota Bitung adalah untuk mengetahui keadaan umum perusahaan dan mendeskripsikan serta menganalisis karakteristik tenaga kerja industri perikanan di perusahaan tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus di perusahaan tersebut, sampel diambil secara acak sederhana dari sejumlah tenaga kerja sesuai dengan bidang masing-masing kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. PT Deho Canning Company merupakan perusahaan mandiri dengan karakteristik tenaga kerja secara spesifik dilihat dari jumlah, sistem penerimaan, pendidikan, usia dan pengalaman kerja, asal, upah dan produktivitas tenaga kerja. Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah tenaga kerja produksi bagian pengalengan ikan tuna dan cakalang.
