PERSEPSI NELAYAN TRADISIONAL TERHADAP TINGKAT PENDIDIKAN ANAK DI KELURAHAN BATULUBANG KECAMATAN LEMBEH SELATAN KOTA BITUNG

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to observe whether the fishing community knew about the function of children's education in the Batuburan Village and to find out the fishermen's perceptions of the level of children's education in the Batuburan Village, Lembeh Selatan District, Bitung City. The method used is survey method. The population in this study were traditional fishermen in the Batuburan Village and who already had children. The data collection method that will be carried out is the sample. The data used consists of primary data and secondary data. Sampling in this study was carried out using a purposive sampling method, namely a sampling technique by determining certain criteria. The data analysis to be used in the research is descriptive quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis. This study uses the Guttman scale and Likert scale. The Guttman scale is a scale that provides two answer choices, for example yes–no, while the Likert scale is a scale used to measure attitudes, opinions and perceptions of a person or people about social phenomena. The instrument used is in the form of choices that have a gradation from very positive to very negative, such as strongly agree, agree, undecided, disagree, and strongly disagree.
Based on the results of the study it was found that fishermen's knowledge of the level of education of children in the Batuburan Village based on Guttman's scale analysis obtained results of 59.34%, while they lacked understanding and had obstacles in children's education, namely 40.66%. Fishermen's perceptions of the education level of children in Batuburan Village based on 3 dimensions, namely, the education dimension as knowledge of being a fisherman has an average of 2.75%, respondents' perceptions are stated to be quite important, while the education dimension for children's skills has an average of 3.92%, respondents' perceptions are stated to be very important and the dimension of continuation of fishing work for children is 1.73%, that is, respondents have unimportant perceptions. From the results of the dimensional average, it can be seen that the total average is 2.80% which states that the level of fishermen's parents has a fairly important perception.

Abstrak
Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengamati apakah masyarakat nelayan mengetahui tentang fungsi pendidikan anak di Kelurahan Batulubang dan mengetahui persepsi nelayan terhadap tingkat pendidikan anak di Kelurahan Batulubang Kecamatan Lembeh Selatan Kota Bitung. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survei. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah nelayan tradisional yang ada di Kelurahan Batulubang dan sudah memiliki anak. Metode pengambilan data yang akan dilakukan adalah sampel. Data yang digunakan terdiri atas data primer dan data sekunder. Penarikan sampel dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode pupossive sampling, yaitu teknik pengambilan sampel dengan menentukan kriteria tertentu. Analisis data yang akan digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan skala Guttman dan skala Likert. Skala Guttman adalah skala yang menyediakan dua pilihan jawaban, misalnya ya–tidak, sedangkan skala Likert adalah skala yang digunakan dalam mengukur sikap, pendapat, dan persepsi seseorang atau orang tentang fenomena sosial. Instrument yang digunakan berupa pilihan yang mempunyai gradasi dari sangat positif sampai sangat negatif seperti sangat setuju, setuju, ragu-ragu, tidak setuju, dan sangat tidak setuju.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa pengetahuan nelayan terhadap tingkat pendidikan anak di Kelurahan Batulubang berdasarkan analisis skalah Guttman didapat hasil 59,34%, sedangkan kurang paham dan memiliki kendala dalam pendidikan anak yaitu 40,66%. Persepsi nelayan terhadap tingkat pendidikan anak di Kelurahan Batulubang yang berdasarkan 3 dimensi yaitu, dimensi pendidikan sebagai pengetahuan menjadi nelayan memiliki rataan 2,75%, persepsi responden dinyatakan cukup penting, sedangkan dimensi pendidikan untuk keterampilan anak memiliki rataan 3.92%, persepsi responden dinyatakan sangat penting dan dimensi kelanjutan pekerjaan nelayan untuk anak 1,73%, yaitu responden memiliki persespi tidak penting. Dari hasil rataan dimensi, maka dapat diketahui total rataan berjumlah 2,80% yang menyatakan bahwa tingkat orang tua nelayan memiliki persepsi cukup penting.
