Freshwater ornamental fish is one of the leading commodities that is in demand by the public because it has beautiful colors. Koi fish (Cyprinus carpio L) have beautiful, pretty color patterns and are easy to be cultivated. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of light intensity on the appearance of color, growth, and survival of life koi fish. The research was conducted for 30 days at the Polnustar freshwater fish cultivation center. The work procedures included preparation of containers and fish samples, maintenance, and observation of color and fish growth. The number of fish samples was 6 individuals between 9-12 cm. The results obtained showed that the appearance of the color of the koi fish in the happa was better than in the aquarium. This is because the bright light conditions provide a bright color appearance. The daily growth rate for 30 days in happa (outdoor) was 0.056 cm/day, while in the aquarium (indoor) it was 0.045 cm/day. The rate of weight gain in the happa it was 0,089 g/day while in the aquarium it was 0.055 g/day. The survival rate after 30 days of cultivation in the happa was 100% while in the aquarium it was 70%.
