Efektivitas Penyuluhan Menggunakan Video Animasi Mengenai Cara Menyikat Gigi dengan Benar pada Anak Sekolah Dasar

Abstract: During elementary school age, children experience a transition from primary to permanent teeth, making them more vulnerable to dental health issues. Knowledge of oral and dental health maintenance among elementary school children can be enhanced through education on proper tooth brushing techniques. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of animated videos in teaching adequate tooth-brushing techniques to improve knowledge among elementary school students. This was a quasi-experimental study with a single-group pre-test and post-test design. Samples were 55 fifth and sixth-grade students at SDN 3 Balokang. A pre-test was administered before the educational session on the same day. The post-test was conducted five days after the pre-test and educational session. The results showed a significant increase in students' knowledge, with the number of students demonstrating good knowledge increasing from 83.6% (46 students) in the pre-test to 89.1% (49 students) in the post-test. The Wilcoxon test revealed a significant difference with a p-value of 0.001. In conclusion, using animated videos to teach proper tooth-brushing techniques is effective for fifth and sixth-grade students at SDN 3 Balokang.

Abstrak: Pada usia anak sekolah dasar terjadi pergantian gigi dari gigi susu ke gigi permanen yang menyebabkan gigi lebih rentan terhadap masalah kesehatan gigi. Pengetahuan menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak sekolah dasar dapat dicapai salah satunya dengan penyuluhan mengenai cara menyikat gigi yang benar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan video animasi dalam penyuluhan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan cara menyikat gigi yang benar terhadap pelajar sekolah dasar. Desain penelitian ini ialah quasi-experiment single group pre-test post-test. Responden penelitian berjumlah 55 pelajar kelas V dan VI SDN 3 Balokang. Pre-test diberikan sebelum penyuluhan, kemudian dilakukan penyuluhan di hari yang sama. Post-test diberikan lima hari setelah pre-test dan penyuluhan. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan peningkatan bermakna dalam pengetahuan siswa, yaitu jumlah responden dengan kategori pengetahuan baik meningkat dari 83,6% (46 responden) pada pre-test menjadi 89,1% (49 responden) pada post-test. Hasil uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan perbedaan bermakna dengan p=0,001. Simpulan penelitian ini ialah penyuluhan menggunakan video animasi cara menyikat gigi yang benar efektif terhadap siswa dan siswi kelas V dan VI SDN 3 Balokang.
