Gambaran Pengetahuan Masyarakat tentang Perawatan Saluran Akar

Abstract: Root canal treatment (RCT) is a crucial procedure in dentistry that aim to preserve infected teeth. The community's knowledge of root canal treatment can be influenced by several factors such as access to dental care, education level, and overall awareness of dental health's importance. This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge of residents at Desa Tateli Weru, Kecamatan Mandolang, Kabupaten Minahasa, North Sulawesi Province, regarding root canal treatment. This was a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with a total sample size of 93 residents at Desa Tateli Weru. Data were collected using a questionnaire as the research instrument. The results showed that 34 residents (36.5%) had good knowledge, 18 residents (19.4%) had moderate knowledge, and 41 residents (44.1%) had poor knowledge about root canal treatment. In conclusion, the community's knowledge about root canal treatment at Desa Tateli Weru is categorized as generally poor.

Abstrak: Perawatan saluran akar (PSA) merupakan salah satu prosedur penting dalam bidang kedokteran gigi dengan tujuan untuk mempertahankan gigi terinfeksi. Pengetahuan masyarakat tentang perawatan saluran akar bisa berbeda-beda, dipengaruhi oleh sejumlah faktor seperti akses terhadap perawatan gigi, tingkat pendidikan, serta kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya menjaga kesehatan gigi secara keseluruhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran pengetahuan masyarakat Desa Tateli Weru, Kecamatan Mandolang, Kabupaten Minahasa, Provinsi Sulawesi Utara tentang perawatan saluran akar. Jenis penelitian ialah deskriptif dengan desain potong lintang. Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian ini yaitu masyarakat di Desa Tateli Weru, Kecamatan Mandolang, Kabupaten Minahasa, Provinsi Sulawesi Utara sebesar 93 orang. Data dikumpulkan dengan instrumen penelitian kuesioner. Hasil penelitian terkait pengetahuan masyarakat tentang perawatan saluran akar menunjukkan kategori baik sebanyak 34 orang (36,5%), pengetahuan cukup sebanyak 18 orang (19,4%), dan pengetahuan kurang sebanyak 41 orang (44,1%). Simpulan penelitian ini ialah pengetahuan masyarakat Desa Tateli Weru tentang perawatan saluran akar berada pada kategori kurang.
