Hubungan antara Konsumsi Minuman Captikus dan Kejadian Karies Gigi pada Masyarakat Nelayan

Abstract: Dental caries is a multifactorial oral disease. Microorganisms, host, food, and time are the four main factors causing dental caries. The microorganisms present in the oral cavity can increase due to frequent alcohol consumption. Continuous alcohol consumption over a long period can cause the oral cavity to become xerostomia, thereby reducing the self-cleansing capacity in the oral cavity and buffering capacity of saliva, leading to uncontrolled plaque and bacteria. Thus, lowering the pH of the oral cavity. The uncontrolled bacteria convert sugar into acid, which subsequently causes the infectious dental caries. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the consumption of Captikus drink and the occcurence of dental caries among fishermen at Desa Tateli Weru. This was an observational and analytical study with a cross-sectional design. Data were analyzed using the chi-square correlation test. The results showed that the highest percentages were found in respondents of 46-55 years old (33.3%), Captikus consumption for more than 5 years (85%), and low category of Captikus consumption (45%). The chi-square obtained a p-value of 0.968 for the relationship between Captikus consumption and the occurrence of dental caries. In conclusion, there is no relationship between the consumption of Captikus drink and the occurrence of dental caries among fishermen at Desa Tateli Weru.

Abstrak: Karies gigi merupakan penyakit gigi dan mulut dengan penyebab multifaktorial. Mikroorganisme, host, makanan, dan waktu merupakan empat faktor utama penyebab terjadinya karies gigi. Mikroorganisme dalam rongga mulut dapat meningkat pada konsumsi alkohol yang sering. Selain itu, mengonsumsi alkohol secara terus menerus dalam kurun waktu lama dapat menyebabkan xerostomia yang berakibat turunnya self-cleansing dalam rongga mulut dan kapasitas buffer saliva sehingga plak dan bakteri menjadi tidak terkontrol dan pH rongga mulut menurun. Bakteri tersebut mengubah gula menjadi asam, yang selanjutnya mengakibatkan terjadinya penyakit infeksi karies gigi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konsumsi minuman Captikus (kadar alkohol 40-45%) dan kejadian karies gigi pada masyarakat nelayan Desa Tateli Weru. Jenis penelitian ialah observasional analitik dengan desain potong lintang. Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi chi-square. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan responden terbanyak berusia 46-55 tahun (33,3%), mengonsumsi Captikus >5 tahun (85%), dan konsumsi Captikus kategori rendah (45%). Uji korelasi chi-square terhadap hubungan antara konsumsi minuman Captikus dan kejadian karies gigi mendapatkan nilai p=0,968 (>0,05), yang menunjukkan tidak terdapat korelasi bermakna. Simpulan penelitian ini ialah tidak terdapat hubungan antara konsumsi minuman Captikus dengan kejadian karies gigi pada masyarakat nelayan Desa Tateli Weru.
