Abstract: Globally, the prevalence of caries in adolescence shows a fairly high rate, as well as in Indonesia. Dental caries can progressively damage hard tooth tissue in all age groups, including adolescents. One of the efforts to prevent dental caries that can be done is to ensure adequate fluorine intake during the period of tooth growth and development. Fluorine intake through food can be obtained through marine fish. This study aimed to determine the relationship between marine fish consumption pattern and the incidence of caries in adolescents aged 13-15 years at Desa Tateli Weru. This was an analytical and observational study with a cross-sectional design. Subjects were 101 adolescents aged 13-15 years at Desa Tateli Weru selected by purposive sampling technique. Data were obtained from the frequency of marine fish consumption and examination of dental caries incidence using ICDAS. The results showed that 75% of adolescents had a frequent consumption pattern of eating seafood and did not have dental caries. Statistical analysis using the chi-square correlation test showed that the consumption pattern of marine fish had a significant correlation with dental caries (p=0.004). In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between marine fish consumption patterns and the incidence of dental caries in adolescents at Desa Tateli Weru.
