Pengaruh Tingkat Pendidikan terhadap Status Kebersihan Gigi dan Mulut Masyarakat Pesisir

Abstract: Low knowledge, awareness, and behavior in maintaining dental and oral hygiene are influenced by various things such as environmental condition, education level, knowledge, economic condition, prevailing habits or culture, and access to health services. This study aimed to determine whether there was an influence of education level on dental and oral hygiene status of the coastal community of Maen Village, East Likupang. This was an observational and analytical study with a cross-sectional design. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis with percentages and bivariate analysis with ordinal regression. The results obtained 56 people of coastal communities of Maen Village as respondents. The majority had a high level of education (n=25; 44.6%), and moderate dental and oral hygiene status (OHI-S) (n=27; 48,2%). The subjects were dominated by those who had high level of education with moderate dental and oral hygiene status (n=17; 68.0%). Bivariate analysis using the ordinal regression test obtained a significant effect. In conclusion, level of education has a significant effect on dental and oral hygiene status of the coastal community of Maen Village, East Likupang District.

Abstrak: Rendahnya pengetahuan, kesadaran, dan perilaku dalam menjaga kebersihan gigi dan mulut dipengaruhi berbagai hal seperti kondisi lingkungan, tingkat pendidikan, pengetahuan, kondisi ekonomi, kebiasaan atau budaya yang berlaku, serta akses layanan kesehatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh tingkat pendidikan terhadap status kebersihan gigi dan mulut masyarakat pesisir Desa Maen, Kecamatan Likupang Timur. Jenis penelitian ialah analitik observasional dengan desain potong lintang. Data dianalisis menggunakan secara univariat untuk melihat distribusi data berdasarkan persentase serta analisis bivariat untuk melihat pengaruh menggunakan regresi ordinal. Hasil pnelitian mendapatkan 56 orang masyarakat pesisir Desa Maen sebagai responden penelitian. Mayoritas responden memiliki tingkat pendidikan terakhir menengah (n=25; 44,6%), dan status kebersihan gigi dan mulut (OHI-S) kondisi sedang (n=27; 48,2%). Responden penelitian didominasi memiliki tingkat pendidikan terakhir menengah dengan status kebersihan gigi dan mulut sedang (n=17; 68,0%). Analisis bivariat menggunakan uji regresi ordinal menunjukkan pengaruh bermakna. Simpulan penelitian ini ialah tingkat pendidikan berpengaruh bermakna terhadap status kebersihan gigi dan mulut masyarakat pesisir Desa Maen Kecamatan Likupang Timur.
