ABSTRACT
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) Green and red lettuce plants generally have similar leaf characteristics and textures, namely serrated or curly edges. The most common type of lettuce consumed by the public is the leaf lettuce type (green and red). The low production of lettuce plants is partly caused by decreasing soil fertility due to the lack of innovation in cultivation, especially the use of liquid organic fertilizers. This study aims to determine the effect of providing liquid organic fertilizers of gamal leaves (Gliricidia sepium (Jacq.) Steud.) on the growth of lettuce plants (Lactuca sativa L.). This study used a completely randomized design. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, and fresh weight of plants. The treatments given included P0: (Control), P1: 30 ml of gamal leaf POC/liter of water, P2: 60 ml of gamal leaf POC/liter of water, P3: 90 ml of gamal leaf POC/liter of water, P4: 130 ml of gamal leaf POC/liter of water. The study took place from July – November 2025. The application of gamal leaf POC significantly affected plant height, number of leaves, and fresh weight on lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) growth. The best concentration was treatment P4 (130 ml gamal leaf POC/liter of water) which produced a plant height of 30.78 cm at 42 HST, 14.8 leaves at 42 HST, and the highest fresh weight of 92.8 grams.
