Abstract

Innovations in financial technology (FinTech) have significantly transformed global financial institutions, particularly Islamic banking in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the influence of FinTech adoption—represented by the use of ATMs, internet banking, SMS banking, and mobile banking—on the financial performance of Islamic commercial banks, with a specific focus on Return on Assets (ROA). The research employs a quantitative approach using a sample of ten Islamic commercial banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2021–2023. The sample was selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS software and a simple linear regression method. The results of the regression analysis indicate that the adoption of each FinTech platform is associated with an average increase in ROA of 0.041% (p < 0.001). The regression coefficient was found to be 0.041, while the R² value of 0.577 suggests that the model explains 57.7% of the variance in ROA. A negative constant value of -0.113% reflects the potential decline in bank performance in the absence of FinTech adoption. These findings clearly demonstrate that FinTech adoption has a positive influence on the financial performance of Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia. The study recommends accelerating digital transformation strategies while ensuring compliance with sharia principles. However, the research is limited in scope due to the relatively short observation period and the constraints of the research platform.
