Abstract

Looking at the easternmost island of Indonesia known as Papua, which has many privileges and traditional values that have not been heavily influenced by globalization. Where the traditions and customs of his beliefs are still maintained and preserved.  The existing tradition is still maintained by the Dani tribal community, which is one of the traditions of stone burning rituals which is a symbol of the togetherness and sacredness of social life, therefore every important event such as completing customary wars, dowry of women, peace with natural spirits and also when Christian faith parties, namely Christmas and Easter celebrations, are always marked by the tradition of stone burning rituals.

Related to traditional ceremonies owned by the Papuan people also have rituals (ceremonies) that are often carried out in order to celebrate traditional feasts, births, deaths, marriages, thanksgiving for the harvest and events that are considered important for Papuans. The stone burning ritual carried out by the Papuan people is a tradition passed down from the ancestors. The stone-burning ritual in ancient times was carried out in order to offer offerings and also an expression of joy and sadness to the ancestors in every event they experienced. This ritual is also held because it is able to build up one soul power together to bring supernatural power. The soul or protective spirit of the clan will be present and serve as a controller and assist the personal soul in fulfilling its responsibilities to the clan or society.
