Abstract

Traditional agricultural system or also known as traditional cultivation. The traditional cultivation system is a system that has been passed down for generations so that it becomes the local knowledge of farmers in carrying out cultivation activities. The knowledge system of the farming community , especially rice farmers , in carrying out their farming activities , rural communities generally cannot be separated from local cultural values for  knowing the benefits and meaning of the work it does.

The population of South Weda District, especially Lembah Asri Village, is mostly   engaged in  agriculture , especially paddy rice .  The practice of cultivating rice and so on, they apply daily and have developed for generations in the community in the village which then forms  their own farming knowledge system and traditions , such as maintaining the diversity of seed types , land preparation , seed preparation , planting, care, until harvesting that are still maintained today. Geographical conditions and natural conditions, in which their life depends on agriculture.  Therefore, various kinds of plants can live and thrive in the South Weda District , for example , such as citrus plants , dragon fruit , curly chilies and rice plants. The presence of existing machine technology in agriculture, actually has a positive impact on farmers in the village, including increasing the yield of rice farmers which is quite satisfactory.
