Mycotoxins are one of the toxins that cause food poisoning in humans. Macrofungi from the Basidiomycota division are one of the sources of poisoning due to mycotoxins caused by the large consumption of wild macrofungi and some of them are known to contain toxic compounds that can harm the human body and the animals that consume them. These mycotoxins come from the following families, including Amanitaceae, Agaricaceae, Boletaceae, Bolbitiaceae, Cortinariaceae, Entolomataceae, Hygrophoropsidaceae, Inocybaceae, Omphalotaceae, Pluteaceae, Russulaceae, Strophariaceae and Tricholomataceae.
