Abstract

                                                       ABSTRACT

     The research which entitled ‘Verbs in English and Galela Language: a Contrastive Analysis’ aims at identifying, classifying, and analysing the types and the meanings of verbs in English and Galela language. The writer used theory of Lyons (1981), Frank (1972), Dillon (1977) and Lado (1979). In analysing, the writer used descriptive method the data. In English, the types of verbs classified by complement verb and form of verb which involves predicating or linking verbs, transitive or intransitive verbs, reflexive verbs, auxiliary or lexical verbs and finite or non-finite verbs while in Galela language, types of verbs such as linking verbs, reflexive verbs, auxiliary verbs, and non-finite verbs are not found. The meaning of verbs such as action and process (inchoative) are found in English and Galela language.
