Lasut3 This study entitled “ Illocutionary Act in Whatsapp Group Brighter “, is an analysis of pragmatic investigation that focuses on one aspect of speech acts called the illocutionary act. This research is an attempt to find out the kinds and functions of the illocutionary act in the Whatsapp group. The research uses descriptive qualitative method. The collected data were taken from the chat of the members of the group based on the theory of Searle. The research finding shows that there are three categories of illocutionary acts in Whatsapp Group Brighter. Those are assertives : asserting, stating, suggesting, and complaining. directives : requesting, commanding, begging, commanding and expressives : caviling and deep condolences. This study is expected to give contribution to language development in linguistic studies especially in analyzing illocutionary acts through pragmatic analysis.
