KONFLIK KARAKTER ANTAR ELIZABETH BENNET DAN FITZWILLIAM DARCY DALAM FILM PRIDE AND PREJUDICE PRODUKSI STUDIOCANAL (2005)

Abstract

                                                ABSTRACT

     The research is entitled “The Character Conflicts Between Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy in The Film “Pride and Prejudice†Produced by Studiocanal (2005)â€. The objectives of this research are to identify, analyze and describe about the conflict between the main characters, Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy in the film “Pride and Prejudiceâ€. The writer used conflict theory by Lewis Coser to analyze and explain the data. This research employs qualitative research as an approach and uses a descriptive method. The main source of data were the script and the movie Pride and Prejudice (2005). As the result of this research, the writer has found nine conflicts occurred between the main characters in the film, where two of them are categorized as internal conflicts and seven of them are external conflicts. The internal conflicts are 1) Conflicts between Elizabeth and herself, and; 2) Conflicts between Mr. Darcy and himself, while the external conflicts are 1) Elizabeth and her mother, Mrs. Bennet; 2) Elizabeth and Mr. Collins; 3) Elizabeth and Charlotte; 4) Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy; 5) Elizabeth and Lady Catherine; 6) Mr. Darcy and Mr. Wickham; and 3) Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet.
