Abstract

                                                   ABSTRACT

     The research was conducted due to students’ low ability in mastering English vocabulary. It aims at finding out how the implementation of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Approach in teaching vocabulary for students of SDN 1 Dalapuli, North Bolaang Mongondow. This research uses classroom action research which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data were obtained from observations, reflections, interviews, documentations, and tests (pre-test and post test). It was found that the use of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Approach on the first cycle showed a slow increase in the students’ ability to master English vocabulary. In the second cycle, some improvements were made during the learning process. In this second cycle, English vocabulary of Grade IV students increased with the use of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Approach from both cycles. It indicates that the use of Communicative language Teaching (CLT) Approach can improve students’ vocabulary mastery of Grade IV SDN 1 Dalapuli, North Bolaang Mongondow.
