Abstract

                                                  ABSTRACT

     This research is entitled "Kelemahan dan Kekuatan Schoology sebagai Platform Pembelajaran Daring di Era COVID-19: Perspektif Mahasiswa di Kelas B Oral English for Academic and Presentation Skills." This research was conducted in the Oral English for Academic and Presentation Skills class B at the English Department, Faculty of Humanities, UNSRAT. There were 51 students presented as respondents. This research aims at identifying, analyzing, and describing the weaknesses and strengths of the Schoology platform based on students’ perspectives. The writer used the explanatory sequential mixed-method with questionnaires and interviews as research instruments. There were 37 students’ responses collected by an online questionnaire with Google-forms, while 10 students were interviewed using Zoom Meeting and WhatsApp. The findings of this research reveal that the majority of students have positive perspectives. It was based on results found by analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of Schoology itself. To most of students, Schoology is a good platform to use during the COVID-19 pandemic because it provides a lot of students’ needs, such as class discussions, grading tools, notifications, resources, etc. Besides providing all the students’ needs, it helps improve students’ learning motivation and their learning achievement. Although it has given good responses, there are still some aspects that need to be considered, such as the effectiveness of the Internet and the Schoology platform itself which still needs to be upgraded, for example, with virtual meeting featuresKeywords: COVID-19, Students’ perspectives, Schoology’s weaknesses & strengths, Online learning, Learning Management Systems
