Abstract

                                                         ABSTRACT

     This research entitled “Kalimat Aktif dan Pasif dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Sanger Dialek Siau: Analisis Kontrastifâ€. The aims of this study are to identify and classify and analyze and also to contrast, the voice in English language and Sangir language Siau dialect. This research used a descriptive method. The English data were collected from books and website, while Sanger language Siau dialect data were collected from several native speakers who live in Mahuneni village, Siau Barat Selatan district. The writer used Aarts and Aarts (1982)’s theory in analyzing the data and Lado (1957)’ theory to contrasting both languages to find out the difference and similarity. The result of this research shows that English and Sanger language Siau dialect have differences in form of voice. Form of active and passive voice in English consist of modal auxiliary verb, primary auxiliary verb, indirect object, direct object and to be. The similarities in both languages are, several forms of active and passive voice in English language are also found in Sanger language Siau dialect, namely; the form of direct object, indirect object, and primary auxiliary verb, which from the definition and function, voice in English language and Sanger language Siau dialect have the same definition and function. The differences in both languages are active and passive voice in Sanger language Siau dialect does not have or does not use “to be†and “modal auxiliary verb†forms which is found in English language.
