Abstract

                                                    ABSTRACT

     This research is entitled “Forms of Polite Request in English and Kaidipang Language: A Contrastive Analysisâ€. The problems in this research namely what are the forms of polite requests used in English and Kaidipang Language and what are the similarities and differences in the forms of polite requests between these two languages. The aims are to identify and classify the forms of polite requests in English and Kaidipang Languages and analyze the similarities and differences in the forms of polite requests between these two languages. The theories used in this research are taken from Leech (1983) and Lado (1971). The method used is descriptive, The whole data were collected by doing library and field research. Based on the results of this research, polite requests in English and Kaidipang language have some similarities and differences. Both languages have polite forms. Besides that, the difference between the two languages is in the structure and forms of sentences.
