Abstract

                                                     ABSTRACT

     The research entitled "The Childhood Trauma of Charlie Kelmeckis as Seen in Steven Chbosky’s Film The Perks of being a Wallflower" is intended as a requirement to accomplish the bachelor’s degree at Faculty of Humanities Sam Ratulangi University Manado. This study focuses on the psychological condition of Charlie Kelmeckis in living his post-traumatic life. The purpose of this study is to identify, classify, analyze, and describe the childhood trauma of Charlie Kelmeckis. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method according to Bogdan and Biklen (1982). In identifying, classifying, and analyzing data, the author uses Smith's (2011) theory to describe Charlie’s psychological condition, Stanton's (1965) character theory and Snyder's (2011) film theory. The result of this research are Charlie have two major traumatic experience that causes by two factor. they are; sudden death of a loved ones and sexual abuse. The several symptoms show by Charlie those are problems with memory; nightmares; self blame; fear and worry; silence.
