TAKSONOMI MAKANAN DALAM BAHASA INGGRIS DAN BAHASA MONGONDOW SUATU ANALISIS KONTRASTIF

                          ABSTRACT
   This research is entitled “Food Taxonomy in English and Mongondow Language: A Contrastive Analysisâ€. The objectives of this research are to identify, classify, analyze and contrast the kinds and categories of food in English and Mongondow Language. In this research, the writer uses descriptive method. The writer read some books about taxonomy of food to find the theory. The data of food in English were collected from thesis, books and articles, while those in Mongondow Language were taken from direct interview by interviewing some informants. The data of foods in English and Mongondow Language that have been collected then indetified, classified, and analyzed by using theory of Fricsh in Hickerson. Then, the data of both languages were contrasted by using Lado’s theory. The result of this research showed that in English and Mongondow Language, there are no differences in the food categories because both have the same categories, namely solid food and liquid food or drinks. The differences found are English has four kinds of solid food, such as 1) meat and fish or seafood, 2) vegetables, 3) breads, and 4) fruits, but Mongondow Language has five solid food, such as 1) meat and fish or seafood, 2) vegetables, 3) breads, 4) fruits dan 5) rice. Also the differences that found were in liquid food or drinks. English has two categories, they are alcoholic drinks and non-alcoholic drinks. Alcoholic drinks in English are found in two kinds, namely low and high alcoholic content, and in non-alcoholic drinks in English are found in five kinds, namely 1) mineral water, 2) refreshing drinks, 3) tall drinks, 4) stimulant, and 5) nourishing, while Mongondow Language liquid food or drinks has only one category, namely non-alcoholic drinks. Non-alcoholic drinks in Mongondow Language are found in seven, such as 1) te’ manis, 2) te’ putih, 3) kopi, 4) saraba, 5) susu, 6) kopi korot,and 7) tubik in’ bango.
