                                                    ABSTRACT

     This research is entitled “PRONOUNS IN ENGLISH AND TALAUD LANGUAGE it aims to describe the pronouns in both languages based on the type, meaning and then to find out the similarities and dissimilarities according to Lado (1957) There are theories used in this research, namely Arts and Arts (1982) and Marcella frank (1972), and Lado (1957). The data in English were collected from several linguistic books whereas the data of Talaud languge were collected from informants as primer data and the secunder data were collected from internets. The result of this research showed that both English has eight pronouns,namely:personal pronouns,reflexive pronouns,demonstrative pronouns, possessive pronouns, relative pronoun, interrogative pronoun, reciprocal pronoun, and “so†and “one†pronoun. Talaud Languange has 7 kinds of pronoun, namely: personal pronoun,reflexive pronoun,demonstrative pronouns reciprocal pronoun.The functions of pronouns in these languages are various. English and Talaud have first, second and third person singular and plural. The pronouns in sentence are usually preceding the verb prhase and following the verb phrase in the terms of position, sometimes pronouns in Talaud Laguage preceding and following noun phrase also. Basically, there is no pronouns “so†and “one†in Talaud Laguage.
