                           ABSTRACT
   The title of this study is interrogative sentences in English and Mongondow language A Contrastive Analysis. It is written to identify, classify and analyze the types and functions of interrogative sentences in English and Mongondow language and to find out the similarities and differences of both languages by using the theory of Aarts and Aarts (1982:94), Aarts (2001:59) and Lado (1957). In this study, the data of English have been taken from book English Syntactic Structure and Modern English: A Practical Reference Guide, and the data of Mongondow language have been collected by interviewing several informants. The method that have been applied in this study is descriptive method. The result of this study shows that both languages have similarities and differences. Based on the types, both languages have Yes/No questions, Wh-questions and Alternative questions, but in Mongondow language the second type of Yes/No question called Tag question did not available. Based on functions, both languages have the same function of interrogative sentences such as asking permission and possibility, asking place, time, reason, thing, person, choice and situation.
