                                                     ABSTRACT

     The research entitled "Fear and Anxiety by Raymond Gaines as seen in the film San Andreas" is intended as one of the requirements for completing undergraduate education at the Faculty of Humanities, Sam Ratulangi University Manado. This study focuses on the fears and anxieties experienced by Raymond Gaines in saving his family in the midst of the earthquake that hit San Andreas and its surroundings. The purpose of this study is to identify, classify, analyze, and describe the factors that cause the fear and anxiety of Raymond Gaines. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method according to Bogdan and Biklen (1982). In identifying, classifying, and analyzing data, the author uses Freud's (1926) theory to explain Raymond Gaines' fear and anxiety and Stanton's (1965) character theory and Snyder's (2011) film theory (2011). The results show that there are several anxiety that is reflected in the film, which consists of 16 reality anxiety, 10 neurotic anxiety, and 5 moral anxiety.
