Background: Optimal glycemic control is essential in preventing long-term complications among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. In addition to biological and medical factors, psychological aspects such as resilience play an important role in patients’ ability to adapt to and manage chronic illness. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between resilience and glycemic control among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: This study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design. A total of 129 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus receiving treatment at the Endocrine Outpatient Clinic of Prof. Dr. R.D. Kandou Hospital Manado were recruited using purposive sampling. Resilience was measured using the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), while glycemic control was assessed based on patients’ HbA1c values obtained from medical records. Data were analyzed using Spearman correlation test. Results: Most respondents were aged 45–59 years (45%), female (63.6%), had secondary education (48.8%), and had been living with diabetes for more than 5 years (51.2%). The majority of respondents demonstrated high resilience levels (93%), while poor glycemic control was observed in 52.7% of participants. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between resilience and glycemic control among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (r = 0.198; p = 0.025). Conclusion: The positive correlation indicated that higher resilience was associated with better glycemic control, although the strength of correlation was weak. Resilience was significantly associated with glycemic control among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. These findings highlight the importance of a holistic approach in diabetes management, including strengthening psychological aspects through psychosocial support and self-management empowerment interventions in nursing practice.
