Abstract
ABSTRACK : Developmental language disorder (DLD) is a condition that affects communication skills, both in understanding and producing language. Language is a means to communicate between humans in the form of sound symbols produced by the human speech apparatus. Language is considered the most perfect tool and is able to convey thoughts and feelings, both about things that are concrete and abstract. Factors causing language disorders include neurological disorders, lack of environmental stimulation, and emotional aspects that can affect speech. Based on research conducted by Ervin in 2001 7-8% of children entering kindergarten have language disorders without other accompanying conditions, where boys with language disorders are 2% more than girls. Treatment of this disorder can be done through various therapeutic methods, including speech therapy to improve verbal communication skills, oral motor therapy to improve the coordination of muscles involved in speech, and the use of melodic intonation methods to help children develop more natural speech patterns. In addition, the involvement of parents and medical personnel in providing adequate language stimulation is instrumental in supporting children's language development. This literature review aims to outline the definition, epidemiology, clinical signs, causative factors, and treatment approaches for language development disorders. The method used is a literature study by analyzing sources related to language development and language disorders in children. The results show that language development disorders are influenced by a complex interaction of genetic and environmental factors, and require early identification and multidisciplinary interventions, including speech therapy, environmental stimulation and cognitive approaches. In conclusion, an in-depth understanding of language development disorders and appropriate treatment can improve children's quality of life and reduce their long-term impact.
