Abstract: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Intensive Cardiovascular Care Unit (ICCU) are high-risk areas for nosocomial infections. Identification of bacterial patterns and antibiotic sensitivity testing are essential for infection control and appropriate therapy selection. This descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach aimed to identify aerobic bacterial patterns and antibiotic sensitivity testing in the ICU and ICCU of Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah ODSK Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. The results showed that from 20 samples, 20 Gram-positive bacterial isolates (100%) were found. In the ICU, Bacillus sp. (44.4%), Staphylococcus sp. (44.4%), and Staphylococcus aureus (11.1%) were identified. In the ICCU, Staphylococcus sp. (54.5%), Bacillus sp. (27.3%), and Staphylococcus aureus (18.2%) were found. Sensitivity testing showed high sensitivity to chloramphenicol (84.2%), ciprofloxacin (74%), meropenem, and gentamicin (68.4%). High resistance was found to aztreonam (100%), ampicillin (79%), cefepime (63%) and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (53%). In conclusion, Gram-positive bacteria dominate the ICU and ICCU environments, with high resistance patterns to beta-lactam antibiotics.
