Abstract: Scabies is a contagious skin disease caused by the Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis commonly found in densely populated environments inter alia Islamic boarding school. It remains a public health concern in Indonesia with varying prevalence across regions. Factors such as shared living spaces, close physical contact, and the use of shared clothing or personal items increase the risk of transmission. To date, there are no available data regarding the prevalence of scabies among students at Assalaam Islamic Boarding School Manado. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the prevalence of scabies among female students at this Islamic Boarding School. This was a descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. Samples consisted of all MTs-level female students (n=106) who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected through anamnesis, clinical examination, and skin scraping for microscopic identification of Sarcoptes scabiei. Diagnosis was established based on the International Alliance for the Control of Scabies (IACS) 2020 criteria. The results showed that of the 106 examined students, 26.4% met the criteria for suspected scabies. All suspected cases demonstrated clustered pruritus symptoms without the presence of typical lesions or mites on microscopic examination. In conclusion, the prevalence of scabies was 26.4%, classified under suspected scabies based on IACS criteria, indicating that the risk of transmission persists within the boarding school environment. Preventive measures, education, and routine monitoring are recommended to reduce potential spread.

Diagnosis skabies ditegakkan berdasarkan kriteria International Alliance for the Control of Scabies (IACS) 2020.
