ABSTRACT

Pepper elder (Peperomia pelludica [L.] Kunth) contains alkaloids, steroids, triterpenoids, saponins, flavonoids, and tanins. The conten contained in the pepper elder able to provide the healing effect against the tissue cell of skin which damaged due to burns. The aim of this research is to make a formulation of gel preparation of pepper elder (Peperomia pelludica [L.] Kunth) extracts with variation of concentration of 5%, 10%, and 15% using CMC as its base and tested the effectiveness for healing the burn against rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus). Base gel was used as negative control and Bioplacenton as positive control. The effectiveness test on the burn was done on the rabbit’s back with a diameter of 1.5 cm. The wound was smeared three times daily with a tested gel and observed its healing effect for 7 days. The results showed that from day 1 to day 7, the observation of burns decreased in diameter. It was concluded that the concentration of 5%, 10% and 15% of pepper elder extracts gel gave the best healing and the fastest healing recovery perform by the gel with concentration of 10%

ABSTRAK

 

Herba Suruhan  (Peperomia  pellucida [L.] Kunth) memiliki kandungan alkaloid,  steroid, triterpenoid, saponin, flavonoid dan tanin. Kandungan yang terdapat dalam herba Suruhan mampu memberikan efek untuk menyembuhkan kulit yang mengalami kerusakan jaringan sel akibat luka bakar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat formulasi sediaan gel ekstrak herba Suruhan (Peperomia  pellucida [L.] Kunth) dengan variasi konsentrasi 5%, 10%, dan 15% yang menggunakan CMC sebagai basisnya dan diuji efektivitas untuk penyembuhan luka bakar pada Kelinci  (Oryctolagus cuniculus). Untuk kontrol negatif digunakan basis gel dan kontrol positif digunakan gel Bioplacenton. Uji efektivitas pada luka bakar dilakukan pada punggung kelinci dengan diameter 1,5 cm. Luka diolesi tiga kali sehari dengan gel yang telah diuji dan pengamatan efek penyembuhannya selama 7 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dari hari ke-1 sampai hari ke-7 pengamatan luka bakar mengalami pengecilan diameter. Disimpulkan bahwa konsentrasi gel ekstrak herba Suruhan 5%, 10% dan 15% telah memberikan efek penyembuhan dan penyembuhan luka bakar paling cepat pada gel dengan konsentrasi 10%.
