Abstract

Nutmeg fruit flesh contains secondary metabolites that are beneficial to health. The secondary metabolites contained in nutmeg fruit flesh are flavonoids and alkaloids. This study aimed to formulate nutmeg fruit flesh extract into granules as an immunomodulatory supplement and test its phagocytosis activity in vitro. The methods used include the extraction of nutmeg fruit flesh using 70% ethanol maceration, granule formulation with three variations of extract concentration (10%, 15%, 20%), in vitro testing of macrophage phagocytosis activity, and evaluation of the granule formulation. The results showed that the test solution with a 20% concentration exhibited a high phagocytosis value of 69.01%. Increasing the extract concentration resulted in increased phagocytosis activity values, indicating that the immunomodulatory effect of the extract stimulates macrophage cells to phagocytose the test bacterial cells. Therefore, it can be concluded that nutmeg fruit extract granules can serve as an immunomodulatory supplement to enhance the immune system.
