Ternak sapi potong menjadi andalan masyarakat di Desa Tonsewer Selatan, yang dikembangkan baik secara individu maupun secara berkelompok. Salah satu kelompok yang mengembangkan ternak sapi potong yaitu “Taruna Hebat”. Permasalahannya masih rendahnya pengetahuan anggota kelompok tentang pemanfaatan limbah tanaman jagung sebagai pakan sapi potong. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut maka telah dilakukan pemberdayaan anggota Kelompok Tani Ternak Sapi Potong “Taruna Hebat” melalui introduksi teknologi pakan ternak sapi potong. Metode pelaksanaan yaitu penyuluhan dan pelatihan bagi anggota kelompok Taruna Hebat. Karakteristik anggota kelompok dilihat dari tingkat pendidikan dan umur. Pendidikan anggota kelompok dianggap rendah, disisi lain anggota kelompok dikategorikan pada umur produktif. Tingkat pengetahuan anggota kelompok terhadap introduksi teknologi pakan mengalami peningkatan walaupun belum diikuti dengan penerapan. Berdasarkan hasil pemberdayaan dapat disimpulkan bahwa introduksi teknologi dibutuhkan anggota kelompok dalam pengembangan ternak sapi potong.

Abstract

Beef cattle farming was the mainstay of the community in South Tonsewer Village, which was developed both individually and in groups. One of the groups developing beef cattle was "Taruna Hebat". The problem was that group members still had low knowledge about the use of corn waste as feed for beef cattle. Based on these problems, members of the Beef Cattle Farmers Group "Taruna Hebat" had been empowered through the introduction of feed technology. The implementation method was extension and training for group members. The characteristics of group members were seen from education level and age. Education was considered low, on the other hand group members were categorized as being of productive age. The level of knowledge regarding the introduction of feed technology had increased although it had not yet been followed by implementation. Based on the empowerment results, it can be concluded that the introduction of technology is needed by group members in developing beef cattle.
