Diversification of Seaweed-Based Food Produced by Farmers in Watang Suppa, Suppa District, Pinrang Regency to Support Family Food Security

Seaweed is one of the industrial needs that is quite high for both the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and other industries. The purpose of this training is to increase the knowledge and skills of members of the seaweed farmer group and the community in Watang Suppa Village, Suppa District, Pinrang Regency regarding how to manage seaweed into highly nutritious processed food products with economic value. The methods used include determining the target area, reviewing the location, observation of the target village/sub-district, permitting the implementation of training and counseling to the local government, preparation of presentation materials and training materials, socialization of the program to the community and groups of Sipakario seaweed farmers, implementation of seaweed processing activities into seaweed fruit ice, seaweed nuggets, seaweed meatballs and seaweed pizza. The results of this activity provide new knowledge to seaweed cultivation groups and local communities about how to manage seaweed produced by farmers into various nutritious food products that are liked by all groups. The addition of seaweed to the four food products produced adds to the diversification of family food and helps meet the needs of healthy nutrition so that it can help the food security of farmers and communities in the region. The skill of processing seaweed into various food products provides an opportunity for trainees to increase the added value of their harvest and can be used as a home industrial business so that it is not only sold in the form of dried seaweed.
ABSTRAK
Rumput laut merupakan salah satu kebutuhan industri yang cukup tinggi baik untuk industri makanan, minuman, farmasi dan industri lainnya. Tujuan pelatihan ini menambah pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota kelompok tani rumput laut dan masyarakat di kelurahan Watang Suppa Kecamatan Suppa Kabupaten Pinrang mengenai cara mengelola rumput laut menjadi produk olahan pangan yang bergizi tinggi dan bernilai ekonomis. Metode yang digunakan meliputi penetapan daerah sasaran, meninjau lokasi, pengamatan desa/kelurahan sasaran, izin pelaksanaan pelatihan dan penyuluhan pada pemerintah setempat, penyusunan materi presentasi dan bahan pelatihan, sosialisasi program kepada masyarakat dan kelompok petani rumput laut Sipakario, pelaksanaan kegiatan pengolahan rumput laut menjadi es buah rumput laut, nugget rumput laut, bakso rumput laut serta pizza rumput laut. Hasil kegiatan ini memberikan pengetahuan yang baru kepada kelompok budidaya rumput laut serta masyarakat setempat tentang cara pengelolaan rumput laut produksi petani menjadi berbagai produk pangan yang bergizi dan disukai semua kalangan. Penambahan rumput laut pada empat produk pangan yang dihasilkan menambah diversifikasi pangan keluarga dan membantu memenuhi kebutuhan nutrisi yang sehat sehingga dapat membantu ketahanan pangan petani dan masyarakat di wilayah tersebut. Keterampilan mengolah rumput laut menjadi berbagai produk pangan memberi peluang peserta pelatihan meningkatkan nilai tambah panen mereka dan dapat dijadikan usaha industri rumahan sehingga tidak hanya dijual dalam bentuk rumput laut kering.
