Abstract

There is no doubt that global warming continuously impact on living environments. Increasing of air temperature, sea level rise, and other impact will cause changes on living environments. In particular coastal areas, spatial development need to be considered seriously for reaching sustainable development. Uncontrolled activities in the coastal area are contributed to global warming, which influence higher temperature of micro climate in urban area. With vision of Manado city as World tourism City 2010 we need to control rapid growth to reach environment balance. Coastal zone need to be managed so that it can support and maintain livability and also preserve life with optimal. Kyoto Protocol ratification is part of efforts to reduce causes of global warming by reducing release of green house gases. Indonesian Government Law Number 27 2007 is made for management of coastal area and island as well as Law Number 26 2007 about land use guidance for level of green area at urban/coastal area. In addition, Regulation Number 26 2008 is made for National Regional Plan as governmental effort to control coastal area. This research is focused in Manado coastal area. The Method is using GIS Mapping, field observation (direct) and using instrument of measure like thermo hygrometer and anemometer. Results show that unmanaged coastal areas will critically damage the coastal areas.
