Kadar Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) pada Peminum Minuman Beralkohol

Abstract

Abstract: Excessive consumption of alcohol can cause liver function disorders including fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, and cirrhosis. One method to detect liver function disorders is by measuring Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) level, which is closely related to alcohol consumption. Alcohol that is toxic to the body will be conjugated by glutathione (GSH) in a reaction that is catalyzed by GGT. This leads to the increasing of GGT levels in heavy alcohol consumption. This study aimed to determine the description of GGT levels of alcoholics in South Tosuraya. This research is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. This research used a total sampling method and was conducted from August 2019 to December 2019. There were 40 respondents (80%) with normal GGT levels and 10 respondents (20%) with high GGT levels. The minimum value of GGT was 12 U/L, the maximum value was 171 U/L, the median value was 29 U/L, and the mean value was 43.26 U/L. In conclusion, most alcoholics in South Tosuraya had normal serum GGT levels.

Abstrak: Alkohol yang dikonsumsi secara berlebihan dapat menyebabkan gangguan fungsi hati diantaranya adalah perlemakan hati, hepatitis alkoholik, dan sirosis. Salah satu metode pemeriksaan gangguan fungsi hati yaitu dengan melakukan pemeriksaan Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT). Enzim ini sangat sensitif pada pengonsumsi alkohol berat. Alkohol yang bersifat toksik bagi tubuh akan dikonjugasi oleh glutation (GSH) dan reaksi tersebut dikatalisis oleh GGT. Hal ini menyebabkan kadar GGT meningkat pada pengonsumsi alkohol berat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar GGT pada pengonsumsi alkohol di Kelurahan Tosuraya Selatan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan desain cross-sectional. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan total sampling dan dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus 2019 sampai dengan Desember 2019. Sebanyak 40 responden (80%) memiliki kadar GGT yang normal dan 10 responden (20%) memiliki kadar GGT yang tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan, didapatkan nilai minimum 12 U/L, nilai maksimum 171 U/L, nilai median 29 U/L, dan nilai rata-rata 43,26 U/L. Sebagai simpulan, gambaran kadar GGT serum pada pengonsumsi minuman beralkohol di Kelurahan Tosuraya Selatan sebagian besar (80%) memiliki kadar GGT serum normal.
