Author Guidelines

Submission should be done online at our website.  An acknowledge letter will be sent to the corresponding author email address posthaste of submission. This letter indicates that we have received your submission and not as an indicator of the journal acceptance.

We encourage all authors to register for an ORCID iD (ORCiD) and include their ORCiD in their author profile at or before manuscript submission.

1. Article Types

Research article

Research articles are comprehensive research reports containing detailed descriptions of experimental work, clearly interpreting and discussing the theoretical and experimental results and data. Research articles should be arranged in the headings Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgment, and References. The normal length of the manuscript is 5 - 15 pages single spaced (8000 word). The abstract must not exceed 250 words. Manuscript template of research article can be downloaded here.

Short communications

Short communications are concise documents for providing brief novel findings that have inadequate content to satisfy a full-length research article. They are intended to be used for the reporting of preliminary studies or short descriptive studies.

Short communications are limited to 2000 words. The manuscript should be arranged in the same way as Research Articles, except it only divided into an introduction, main body and references and should include no more than six figures or tables combined. The abstract must not exceed 100 words.

Review article

A systematic review is a review of a clearly formulated question that uses systematic and reproducible methods to identify, select and critically appraise all relevant research, and to collect and analyse data from the studies that are included in the review.

A systematic review should answer a focused research question, employs a comprehensive, reproducible search strategy, identifies all relevant studies (both published and unpublished), assesses all results for inclusion/exclusion, and for quality, presents an unbiased, balanced summary of findings.

The reviews should be divided into sections with relevant headings. The format of the References section is the same as that of the Research Articles. While there is no restriction on the length of the review, it is recommended that the manuscript contain no more than 40 pages double spaced, including display items and references. References should be no more than 80. The abstract must not exceed 250 words.

2. General Instructions

  • Manuscripts could be written in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Format manuscripts for A4 (21 x 30 cm) paper.
  • Number all pages sequentially.
  • Use Times New Roman 12 pt font. Use italics only for scientific names.
  • Use metric units of measurement.

3. Article Structure

INTRODUCTION

Introduction is about 400-800 words, covering the aims of the research and provide an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results. Indicate the aims of research in the last paragraph. The number of references in the INTRODUCTION is at least 5 references, from the latest articles, the last 10 years.

Manuscript of original research should be written in no more than 8,000 words (including tables and picture), or proportional with articles in this publication number. Review articles will be accommodated, while, short communication should be written in about 2,000 words, except for pre-study.

Manuscript is typed on white paper of A4 (210x297 mm2) size, 12-point Times New Roman font. Smaller lettering size can be applied in presenting table and figure (10 pt). Word processing program or additional software can be used, however, it must be PC compatible and Microsoft Word based (.doc or .docx). Scientific names of species (incl. subspecies, variety, etc.) should be written in italic, except for italic sentence. Scientific name (genera, species, author), and cultivar or strain should be mentioned completely for the first time mentioning it in the body text, especially for taxonomic manuscripts. Name of genera can be shortened after first mentioning, except generating confusion. Name of the author can be eliminated after first mentioning. For example, Rhizopus oryzae L. UICC 524, hereinafter can be written as R. oryzae UICC 524. Using trivial name should be avoided, otherwise generating confusion. Biochemical and chemical nomenclature should follow the order of the IUPAC - IUB. For DNA sequence, it is better used Courier New font. Symbols of standard chemical and abbreviation of chemistry name can be applied for common and clear used, for example, completely written butilic hydroxytoluene (BHT) to be BHT hereinafter. Metric measurement use IS denomination, usage other system should follow the value of equivalent with the denomination of IS first mentioning. Abbreviations set of, like g, mg, mL, etc. do not follow by dot. Minus index (m-2, L-1, h-1) suggested to be used, except in things like “per-plant” or “per-plot”. Equation of mathematics does not always can be written down in one column with text, in that case can be written separately. Number one to ten are expressed with words, except if it relates to measurement, while values above them written in number, except in early sentence. The fraction should be expressed in decimal. In the text, it should be used “%” rather than “percent”. Avoid expressing ideas with complicated sentence and verbiage, and used efficient and effective sentence.

Citation in manuscript is written in “name and year” system; and is arranged from oldest to newest and from A to Z. In citing an article written by two authors, both of them should be mentioned, however, for three and more authors, only the last (family) name of the first author is mentioned, followed by et al. (non italic), for example: Salim and Indah (2006) or (Bergeys 2003a, b, c; Malik 2004; (Damayanti, 2010); (Asgar & Rahayu, 2014); (Tangapo et al., 2012). A total of 80% of the references should be from scientific journals published in the last five years, except for taxonomic studies. Names of journals should be abbreviated according to the ISSN List of Title Word Abbreviations (www.issn.org/2-22661-LTWA-online.php).

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be reproduced. Methods already published should be indicated by a reference: only relevant modifications should be described. Please describe whether the study is experimental or exploration. Name the number of samples and give courtesy to whom you obtain the sample. State seasonal variation of the habitat (if applicable) or date of sampling. Human materials should be collected in conformation to standard ethics and with written informed consent.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Results and Discussion should be written as a series of connecting sentences, however, for manuscript with long discussion should be divided into subtitles. Results should be clear and concise. The number of references in theRESULT AND DISCUSSION is at least 10 references, from the latest articles, the last 10 years.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Acknowledgments are expressed in a brief; all sources of institutional, private and corporate financial support for the work must be fully acknowledged, and any potential conflicts of interest are noted.
