VERBA FRASAL DALAM NOVEL THE STARS SHINE DOWN KARYA SHIDNEY SHELDON
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research entitled “Phrasal Verbs in the novel “The Stars Shine Down by Sidney Sheldon” is written to identify and analyze the phrasal verbs in terms of form and meaning.
The method used is descriptive method. The data are taken from the novel, and analyzed based on the concept of Beaumont dan Gringer in terms of form and Thomson Martinet for their meanings.
The writer finds that there are four forms of phrasal verbs in the novel, those are the first form : verb + particle +, the second form : verb + particle + object and verb + object + particle, the tirth form : Verb + Particle + Object in which verb cannot be separated from the particle, and the fifth form : Verb + Particle + Preposition. The writer also finds that there are phrasal verbs that have more than one meanings those are get up, put down, come back, talk about, come up, finish up, keep up, make up, put up, turn up, set of and give up.
This research could help the reader to increase the knowledge especially on phrasal verbs and to understand phrasal verb in the novel The Stars Shine Down deeply.
