Abstract

                                                    ABSTRACT

This research is entitled “Ketidakfasihan Berbicara dalam Acara “Zach Sang Show with Niki” (Sebuah Analisis Psikolinguistik)”. It focuses on the identification and the classification of the types of disfluency and the analysis and description of the causes of disfluency that can be found on the radio show Zach Sang Show with Niki. This research uses descriptive method. The writer read books, journals, articles, and previous researches about speech disfluency to find information and theories. The writer uses MacGregor’s (2008) theory regarding the types of disfluency to identify and classify the data. She also uses the theory of Bortfeld et al. (2001) about the causes of disfluency to analyze and describe the data. The data were taken on the radio show Zach Sang Show with Niki. In this research, the writer finds six types of disfluency produced by the radio host, Zach, and by the guest, Niki. Those disfluencies are filled pause, silent pause, repetition, repair, lexical filler, and prolongation. Repair is the most common disfluency because of the change of utterance planning and the effort of retrieving the correct words and grammars by both Zach and especially Niki. The writer also finds four factors which caused the disfluencies, those factors are processing load, coordination functions, familiar versus unfamiliar conversational partners, and a variable that affected disfluencies called cognitivie load. Processing load is the factor that caused the most disfluencies due to the planning in each sentence which can be changed according to the speaker in the middle of conversation. Different topic of conversation can also affect the processing load or the planning of utterances.
